It really upsets me that this dieting mass hysteria promotes such unhealthy lifestyles in our nation. I was really excited a coupla years ago when I signed on to the Hungry Girl site to learn about great recipes that would help me lose weight and bring structure to my diet. Well, most of the recipes that were low in calories were so horrible for the body. Everything called for “low fat/no fat/fat free”, cheap, and over processed foods that consist of artificial ingredients. I was pretty convinced that the author would promote rat poison as long as it was under 200 calories.
There is a ton of good, wholesome, natural, and naturally low in fat foods that we should be eating as opposed to filling up on science.
Good luck on all the diseases you’re going to get!

Way to many of the recipes were for sweets! I wanted something more meal and side dish oriented and this just wasn’t it.

I am new to the calorie counting (1 month in) and found the first book while browsing in a book store. . . liked it. . . so, when I heard that there was going to be a new one, I pre-ordered it after reading about it some. When it came in the mail, I immediately fell in love. The first page I opened it to was the vanilla-thrilla coffee. . . love at first site. Hungry Girl makes it so easy to stay on a low calorie lifestyle (note I did not call it a “diet”) because there is a version of all the “bad” foods in a low cal version. The only thing is the soy crumbles. . . still can’t get past those, but lean turkey fits in well without changing the calorie count too much. One thing I have noticed, is that most of the recipes are on the high side of the average calorie count (which is great because it makes me feel good when I count the actual calories and find out that it was less than the average in the book. . . makes me feel like I accomplished something).

The store I purchased this book from was excellent about shipping it to me in a timely manner, as well as making sure it was in good shape. The cookbook itself is helpful for mostly side items and egg dishes. The recipes are very easy and pretty fast, but I was hoping for more entrees for dinner. It is definetely worth having around though.
